Every watch in our store runs on one of two movement families. Here is what separates them — and why the debate never ends.
Quartz: precision engineering
A quartz movement passes an electric current through a quartz crystal, which vibrates 32,768 times per second. The result is accuracy within seconds per month, a slim case, and a battery change every couple of years as the only real maintenance. Most of our chronographs are quartz for exactly these reasons.
Automatic: mechanical soul
An automatic movement harvests energy from the motion of your wrist to wind its own mainspring. No battery, a sweeping second hand, and a mechanism you can watch working through a skeleton dial. It asks a little more of you — wear it regularly or keep it on a winder — and gives back a small machine with genuine heritage. Our Ghost Automatic line is built around this idea.
Which should you choose?
Choose quartz for accuracy, slimness and grab-and-go convenience. Choose automatic if the mechanism itself is part of the pleasure. Neither choice is wrong — they are different kinds of right.
